I had an unusual and uplifting experience today. I visited my local department of motor vehicles office this morning to renew a registration that had expired a couple of months back. I was reminded of this error with a summons last night. Well, I drove 30 minutes to get to the dmv and there were only three people ahead of me on line. The person working at this station was very efficient. In a couple of minutes my paperwork was approved and I was given a ticket with a number which would be called when it was my turn. I headed toward the benches looking forward to reading the book I brought with me, but my number was called before I got that far. So, I proceeded directly to window # 16 as instructed by the announcement. The person there took care of my business in a pleasant manner. And I was in and out in a matter of about 15 minutes! This is unheard of. I went to the dmv prepared to get a hard time because experience has shown me that I never get my business done in only one visit. But I was pleasantly surprised. It is good to see a government office working so well.
